The beneficiary: The Hero Initiative
The Hero Initiative creates a financial safety net for comic book creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. Many talented creators who crafted the comics landscape we enjoy today did so out of love for the art and not much else. Creators from comics' Golden and Silver Ages often toiled for $5 a page as artists; a penny a word as writers. Many of these creators are now in need of medical or financial aid. Since inception, the Hero Initiative has been fortunate enough to benefit over 40 creators and their families with over $500,000 worth of much-needed aid, fueled by your contributions! It's a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment.
